Is my furniture worth reupholstering?
In most cases it will be. If the frame was very well made and is sturdy and has lasted for many years, and is comfortable and fits your home perfectly, then reupholstering is a good choice. It may also be of sentimental value or a family heirloom.
Is it cheaper to buy new furniture?
There’s that saying “You get what you pay for!” Re-upholstery can cost a lot upfront but will last a very long time and depending where you’re furniture shopping. It can be more cost effective to have it re-upholstered vs buying brand new. When comparing, make sure they are of similar quality and that the fabric is of a comparable quality. Many pieces that you will find that are inexpensive are made overseas and is constructed poorly and made with low quality material inside and out. It may look good when you get it but within time you make have issues with it and have to end up buying another piece. Which may within a very short time you may well regret buying this cheap furniture.
Can I supply my own fabric?
Yes, of course. We can work with your fabric, however, we will not offer any warranty, or be responsible for the condition or quality of your fabric. We take the utmost care to provide you with the best possible results with the fabric that you provide.
Do you supply fabric?
Yes we do! We carry a wide selection of upholstery and drapery fabrics. We also carry faux leather (vinyl) and genuine leather samples.
Which fabric should I use?
Every piece will vary. If you’re going to use the fabric for throw cushions, then light cotton will be fine. For high traffic furniture we suggest a more durable fabric. Most of the fabrics we carry are upholstery grade fabric that will wear well and last a long time. The fabrics all vary in colours, patterns and textures. Fabric all comes down to personal choice and how you want to express your home. We will happily assist and advise you on choosing the right fabric that suits your needs.
Do you strip the furniture before you recover?
We strip the furniture to the frame. After it has been stripped we check the frame, springs, fillings, webbing and padding to make sure any repairs or replacements are done at that time. It is important that the frame is structurally sound. Before any upholstery work is done, we check the frame very carefully and notify you if a repair is needed.
How long does it take to reupholster?
On average, the turnaround time is three to five weeks. If there is a deadline of when you need a piece done by. We are very good at accommodating that deadline. If unable to complete your project within this time period, you will have been informed, before the project is started.
Can we replace the cushion and back inserts only?
Yes, of course! This is a common thing that happens when the cushions are not holding their shape, and are no longer comfortable. Replacing your existing cushions is one of the easiest ways to bring life back to your furniture. There are a couple of options to replacing or repairing your cushions. We provide high quality inserts from: high density foam cushions and down filled cushions with different densities that will fit your lifestyle. All cushions are wrapped with Dacron fiber that will give a fuller look and be more comfortable.
Can I change the style of my furniture?
Yes! Anything is possible with custom upholstery. Depending on the frame, there are many modifications we can make to update the look of your furniture. Changing skirt lengths or removing them all together is a common alteration we perform. Tufting buttons may be added or removed. Changing the shape of the arms, legs, or upholstery style are just a few options.
